We are pleased to advise that this has finally come to reality and that the upcoming season will see the Juniors play under the name of Concord Briars Cricket Club. In previous seasons there have been over 200 juniors under the age of 16 playing for the Club with another 60-70 playing in the Milo In-To-Cricket competition for children under the age of 8 years old. Now the children will have the opportunity to play cricket for the one club from their junior years right through to the seniors. They have been an exceptionally well run club, primarily due to the efforts of Chris and Anne Burt, that grew from just 4 teams not so many years ago to well over 20 teams now. The Briars are very excited at this opportunity as it will allow us to be involved in coaching of the junior cricketers and help them improve and continue to enjoy playing. We hope that there will be plenty of opportunities for the children to further their cricket careers with our great club and that they continue playing when they are involved in playing senior cricket. 24.05.11 Cricket Presentation Night
The 2010-11 cricket season has drawn to a close with the annual presentation night held at the club on the 9th April 2011. Excellent numbers attended to celebrate another successful season for the Briars. Congratulations to Will Hood's 3rd Grade side who beat Warringah by 7 runs in a nerve racking match. The guys had a tight win over Auburn in the semi final and followed up again under pressure to take the title in the big one. That premiership is the clubs 30th premiership in the past 30 years -the Briars are the most successful club in Shires history!! The 1st grade exceeded everyone's expectations this year in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year under new captain/club coach Jason Holley. The team made it through to the Grand Final and although they were comfortably beaten by Strathfield everything points to a huge season next year. Jason had an exceptional season both on (743 runs) and off the field and I know he is keen to make 2011/12 even more successful. Congratulations to Wayne Grimson (2nd Grade) and Dan Haiken (4th Grade) whos teams were both unlucky not to advance to the Grand Final but had great seasons after being knocked out in the Semis, the 2nds in a tight one and the 4ths beaten by a wet wicket. Further congratulations to the following award winners this season:
1st Grade Players Player - Jason Holley There are lots of exciting things planned for the Briars. Some will be unveiled during the off season and of course the proposed development of the Rothwell Park changerooms in 2012 is eagerly awaited. Additionally we will be looking to strengthen the clubs playing depth as we build to make 2011/12 an even better season, 2nd in the club championship is excellent, 1st is much better!! There's only one Burwood-Briars!!

ANNOUNCEMENT: The mighty Burwood-Briars are extremely excited and proud to announce the signing of Sutherland 1st grade player Jason Holley as our 1st grade captain and club coach for the next two seasons.
- 1st grade Premierships - 1995/96, 98/99 (two day format)
- 2nd grade Premiership in 1997/98
Jason has always had an attachment to the club. His father Kevin was a stalwart at the Briars and won many Premierships and was Cricket Chairman for a number of years whilst his brother Darren played a key role in the Briars 1998/99 1st Grade premiership.
I know you'll join me in welcoming Jason to the club in what is shaping up as a very big year for the Briars.
This season there will only be 'One Burwood-Briars'.
Briars… Volunteers Required
We are seeking expression of interests from parents, relatives, friends, neighbours, non playing members and anyone interested in cricket to be part of our Volunteer Register for the upcoming season.
This would be an ideal role for a retired or elderly person who would like to be actively involved on a weekend and have an interest in the game of cricket. It would provide a great way for them to get out and socialise as well as remaining active.
Opening up the change rooms and canteen at the beginning of the day
