By raising $350, we could pay for collection and processing of seven sets of blood specimens to be kept in our biobank, a vital resource for future genetic and lifestyle research relating to cancer. By raising $500, we could pay for a person to attend an advocacy-training workshop to help lobby for a better health system for all cancer patients.
By raising $1000, we could fund recruitment of 10 men to the NSW Cancer Lifestyle and Evaluation of Risk (CLEAR) Study.. |

Good morning Briars:
Already we have two more volunteers to assist Briars Rugby for this seasons home games. Baldy & Porky have come off the bench to give us a hand for Rounds 4 & 11. Cheers fellas.
Please if you can assist Rugby in this capacity it would be great to have you on board. This area of assistance is where the likes of Clubs such as Hunters Hill, Colleagues, Mosman & St Ives remain strong with "Old Boy", involvement and helps to close the generation gap between today's players and those of us who have hung up the boots.
An idea for those of you wishing to volunteer is to share the day with a fellow team mate. Invite them down to glorious Rothwell, have a beer and a steak sandwich. (These are free for Ground Marshalls)
Please spread the word, more "Volunteers Needed"!
Cheers,
Johnny

Briars Rugby Members Past & Present We Need Your Support.
With season 2011 fast approaching we felt it was timely to reach out to our fellow clubmen and ask for your support.
With Season 2010 now well behind us we thought it timely to look to the season ahead and to recognise where we need to improve on seasons past and what meaningful changes we need to make to be more successful in the seasons to come.
One of the main issues we identified on review was that the clubs that are currently succeeding have extensive networks of past and present players that assist the club financially and operationally on an ongoing basis, this assistance includes everything from ground set up, to sponsorship and player recruitment or referral.
This is where we need your support in 2011 & beyond, supporting your club is not about the size of the gesture it is about the gesture itself. Please find following a brief list of ways in which you may be able to help your club:
1 Attend a Briars Rugby Home Game & Buy a Beer, and a Sausage Sandwich;
2 Sponsor a Briars Rugby Team;
3 Refer a mate, a neighbour, a workmate or someone you meet in a pub to play for Briars Rugby;
4 Manage a Briars Rugby Team;
5 Sponsor a Briars Rugby Colt;
6 Assist with Briars Rugby Game Day Operations, Canteen, Set Up, Pack Down, Selling Raffle Tickets;
7 Buy a Ticket or a Table at the Briars Rugby Annual Dinner on the;
8 Attend a Briars Rugby Home Game & Buy a Raffle ticket or ten;
9 Sponsor a Briars Rugby Game Day Banner;
10 Refer a current employment opportunity for a current Briars Rugby player;
11 Sponsor a Briars Rugby Player Education Scholarship;
12 Refer a Sponsor to Briars Rugby;
13 Buy some Briars Rugby Supporters Gear;
14 Conduct a Guest Coaching Session with an individual Briars Rugby Team or the Club;
15 Most of all be proud of the fact that you are a Briar. Tell your friends, your workmates, your neighbours and anyone else that wants to listen about the Briars;
To kick start the preparations for 2011 we will be holding a brief meeting at Briars @ Greenless on Thursday the 11th of November at 1900 for all interested parties who wish to contribute to Briars Rugby in Season 2011.
If you are unable to attend but would like to offer your support to your club through any of the methods listed or if you have any further ideas of ways you would like to support your club, please do not hesitate to contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or alternatively at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
