Briars…
6....6....6
We are are not talking about the number of the beast or some religious connotation, it is the annual Gerard Price Charcoal Chicken 6 competition won regularly for the last 20 years by Gerard Price and whoever partners him. All pairings must be sent to Scott Brennan as an official “6’s pairing”.
Competition Rules
1) Only a "6" hit this season will count. A single digit “6” in the book counts in any fashion, this includes overthrows and scores greater than 6 and a seasons worth of smugness.
2) 6’s “scored” in the nets do not count……... ever!!!
3) All 6’s will be counted from the start of the season
4) All “6’s” will be collected from the scorebooks and will be the final say on the total number of your pair’s 6’s
5) Each Pair must BE one batsman and one bowler and must not be from the same team.
6)There will be no swapping partners nor even a “January transfer window” to find a new partner…….. despite what Gerard tells you
7) An entry fee of $5 for each participant is to be paid by the end of January.
8) There will be a first and second place prize……. ; )
9) A bowlers 6 competition will also be displayed for all the bowlers showing who has been hit for a 6 this season.
10) Each week an update of the running totals will be displayed.
Finally, a 6’s comp does not make for reckless batting on Saturday/Sunday – if you’re out going for a big one then you can’t use the “6’s comp” as an excuse……... Bat for your team! Liquid fines apply.
Round 2 Update
The 3rd round of the season is half way through and this week Simmo joined in the fun by hitting hitting a six, Chappo added to his tally in his ton to take an early lead.
